OUR PUBLISHER

JUDITH CURR, PRESIDENT AND PUBLISHER

As publisher and founder of Atria Books, Judith has ultimate responsibility for all the editorial, publishing, and marketing activities of the Atria imprint. Judith believes in creating books that are physically beautiful and that can help to shape the culture in positive, constructive ways. She was the guiding force behind publishing the international phenomenon The Secret by Rhonda Byrne (more than sixteen million copies sold). Judith is an industry leader in adopting new technologies and developing innovative marketing strategies. She currently teaches a course at New York University called “From Writer to Reader: An Introduction to Book Publishing” (spring semester). In just ten years, she has overseen Atria’s growth into a consistently successful and forward-thinking division within legendary publishing powerhouse Simon & Schuster, Inc. A native of Australia, Judith has been an executive in American publishing since 1996.

Peter Borland is Vice President, Editor-in-Chief for Atria Books, Washington Square Press, and Keywords Press. Recent bestsellers he edited include A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman, Leaving Berlin by Joseph Kanon, and The Explorers Guild by Jon Baird, Kevin Costner, and Rick Ross. JOHANNA V. CASTILLO, VICE PRESIDENT AND EXECUTIVE EDITOR

Before joining Atria Books in 2005, Johanna was a literary agent at Sanford J. Greenburger Associates. She has brought a variety of critically acclaimed and bestselling authors to Atria’s list, including Isabel Allende, María Dueñas, Colleen Hoover, Pat LaFrieda, Sharyn McCrumb, Félix J. Palma, Rosanna Pansino, Rachael Ray, Armando Lucas Correa, and Laura Esquivel. Her areas of interest include literature in translation, women’s fiction, memoir, and cookbooks. An expert on the international and Latinx book market, she has been featured in the Miami HeraldBoston Globe Daily News, and Publishers Weekly, and was named one of the 25 Most Powerful Women by People en Español in 2015. She serves on the board of Poets & Writers.

Sarah joined Atria in the spring of 2017. Throughout her career, she’s worked with numerous New York Times bestselling health, wellness, and lifestyle authors, including Dr. David Ludwig (Always Hungry?), Marla Heller (the DASH Diet series), Rip Esselstyn (The Engine 2 Seven-Day Rescue Diet), Rocco DiSpirito (Cook Your Butt Off), JJ Virgin (The Virgin Diet), and Kimberly Snyder (the Beauty Detox series). Prior to Atria, she worked at Grand Central Life & Style, Harlequin Nonfiction, and McGraw-Hill. Sarah graduated from Dartmouth College where she majored in English & Creative Writing. Rakesh Satyal acquires a broad range of nonfiction with an emphasis on narrative-driven books, as well as general fiction and fiction in translation. Satyal began his career at Random House, then spent five years at HarperCollins. He acquired and edited the New York Times bestseller Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger and Tori Amos’s New York Times bestselling memoir, Tori Amos: Piece by Piece. Satyal has been on the advisory committee for the annual PEN World Voices Festival and has taught in the publishing program at New York University.

Haley Weaver graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wesleyan University with Honors in English and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and, following editorial internships at The Feminist Press, Columbia University Press, and Overlook Press, joined Atria Books in Spring 2015. She works with Sarah Cantin on a range of fiction and narrative nonfiction titles, and with Zhena Muzyka on all Enliven titles. For her own list, she is looking for innovative and compelling stories representing a diverse array of experiences, including those of LGBTQ+, people of color, and diverse religious backgrounds. LOAN LE, ASSISTANT EDITOR

Loan Le is an assistant editor at Atria Books. Before joining in 2016, she worked at Gallery Books and Scout Press. She graduated with her B.A. in journalism from Fairfield University in 2014, where she later earned her M.F.A. in fiction writing. She runs Young to Publishing’s writing group. She is drawn to fiction with misfit characters; dark, psychological atmospheres; and anything that might blend reality and the supernatural. Loan assists Jhanteigh Kupihea and Rakesh Satyal with their projects for Atria, Keywords, Leopoldo & Co., and Skybound.

Melanie was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She moved to New York in 2014 for NYU’s MS in Publishing: Digital and Print Media, graduating in 2016. The same year, she officially joined the Atria Books editorial team after participating in Simon & Schuster’s Associate Program. She currently assists Johanna V. Castillo on a variety of fiction and nonfiction titles in English and Spanish.

In April 2013, Dawn Davis joined Simon & Schuster as the VP and Publisher of 37 INK, an imprint within the Atria Publishing Group. Charmaine R. Parker is a former newspaper journalist who worked as a reporter, copy editor, and managing editor. She is the publishing director for Strebor Books.

Beth Adams acquires both fiction and non-fiction for the Christian and inspirational markets. Some of the bestsellers she’s worked on at Howard include Karen Kingsbury’s Love Story, Allison Pataki’s The Accidental Empress, and Life is Short by Dr. Jennifer Arnold and Bill Klein. Before joining Howard Books in 2012, she worked at Random House and Guideposts. She graduated from Princeton University and has a master’s degree in English from New York University. Milena joined Atria Books in June 2017. She was previously at Penguin Random House where she managed publicity campaigns for a wide array of authors including Mike Tyson, comedian Phoebe Robinson, youtuber Mamrie Hart, music journalist Greil Marcus, pop culture writer Anne Helen Petersen and Pulitzer Prize winning writer Stephen Hunter.

Mirtha joined Atria in October 2014 and handles nonfiction, as well as a wide variety of genres in fiction including fantasy, mystery, and historical. Jackie Jou joined Atria Books in 2012. ANN PRYOR, SENIOR MARKETING MANAGER

Ann joined Atria Books in 2017. She oversees marketing for Atria and is responsible for Emily Bestler Books, Howard Books, and 37 INK imprints. She also oversees the marketing campaigns for literary fiction, science fiction, and inspirational titles. Previously she was with McGraw-Hill Professional, executing marketing and publicity campaigns for New York Times business and consumer bestsellers. Ann graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in English Literature.

TASHA HILTON, SENIOR DIGITAL MARKETING MANAGER

Tasha joined Atria in 2016 and oversees all social media campaigns. In addition, she works on marketing for titles like I Can’t Make This Up by Kevin Hart, Around the Way Girl by Taraji P. Henson and Darktown by Thomas Mullen.

BIANCA SALVANT, PUBLISHING ASSOCIATE

Bianca is a graduate of Florida A&M Univeristy and a member of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. She joined Atria Books in October of  2016, following Greater Talent Network. She works with Suzanne Donahue in the publishing office, in addition to marketing for Enliven books and select conversion and hardcover titles. Bianca loves books that challenge her perception of reality.

MICHAEL GORMAN, PUBLISHING ASSISTANT

Michael joined Atria Books in 2017 after attending New York University’s Summer Publishing Institute. He assists Suzanne Donahue in her daily operations.

Kitt works with Judith Curr. She manages the publisher’s schedule and acts as a go-between for all departments.

Kimberly Goldstein oversees the entire production process from manuscript to finished book for Atria Books, Emily Bestler Books, Washington Square Press, Atria/Beyond Words, and Strebor Books.

PAIGE LYTLE, ASSISTANT MANAGING EDITOR

Paige Lytle joined Atria Books after attending New York University’s Summer Publishing Institute. She assists Kimberly Goldstein in the management of Atria’s titles, helps oversee the production process, and acts as a go-between for all departments.

Luqman Hamaki assists Kimberly Goldstein in monitoring and updating title information in the database. He also works closely with Howard Books in their production process.

ALBERT TANG, ART DIRECTOR

Albert Tang handles the design and art direction for the Atria list. He joined the imprint late 2014, and has previously worked at Penguin Books, and at W. W. Norton & Company. He was the art director for the Norton Trade Paperback list, as well as the art director for the Liveright Publishing list.

Lisa Keim oversees all international and domestic subsidiary rights for the Atria list.

Katelin joined Atria in 2016 after previously working in subsidiary rights at a literary agency. She works with Lisa Keim on foreign rights for Atria and Howard titles.
